Chrysler Company decided to phase out the production of Chrysler 200 Convertible

Chrysler Company decided not to launch its new convertible based on the the next generation of Chrysler 200 sedan. We remind that the debut of the updated Chrysler 200 sedan took place at the Detroit auto show in early 2014. In addition, the leadership of the American Company refused to launch the production of Dodge Avenger.

Chrysler Company has already commented the situation and unveiled the reasons that influenced the decision-making. If taking into account the process of designing and creating of Chrysler 200 production model, the company gives preference to the sedan. In other words, Chrysler which recently has had serious financial problems, decided to concentrate on the sedan’s production.

According to the annual reports, Chrysler 200 Convertible of the current generation wasn’t in demand. During the past year the company managed to sell only 122,480 copies of the 200 model, and only 5% of those cars were convertibles. Doug Verl, chief engineer of the company said in the interview that the process of creating and production of convertible required serious investment and was power-intensive.
