Chrysler Group has announced that as from the end of 2014, almost all cars of Chrysler and Jeep brands will receive a stop-start system as a standard feature. A stop-start system will be able to shut the engine off when the vehicle stops, and then the system automatically restarts it at the same instant when the driver releases the brake or clutch pedal. Chrysler made the system work like that: the supply of the fuel to the engine is cut off when the vehicle comes to a stop. When the engine is off, the radio and other accessories keep working.

The automaker said that it will equip with this function all the machines with a 3.2-liter V6 (first of all, it concerns the Jeep Cherokee, when it will be launched in the third quarter).

This system will be also installed to the 2.4-liter V4 petrol engine of the Chrysler 200. This is a feature that allows saving up to 1 l per 100 km, it will be set up even to the Ram 1500 pickup. Chrysler specialists believe not without reason that the addition of the “start-stop” system will improve the fuel efficiency of cars that they produce and reduce the amount of exhaust into the atmosphere up to 3% especially in city traffic.
