The most affordable model of Chrysler will be recalled due to a fault in automatic transmission

Several owners of Chrysler 200 sedan have found in their cars a serious defect which under unfortunate circumstances can lead to an accident. According to motorists, automatic transmission of the cars is not always switched to Parking mode, and in some cases, even a light indication not always correctly displays the mode of transmission. Chrysler quickly assessed the possible consequences and withdrew 26 000 copies of the machines for a free repair.

The owners of Chrysler cars equipped with 9-speed automatic transmission and a top-end 3.6-liter V6 engines with 295 hp will be offered to contact the nearest service center, where specialists will check and, if necessary, correct the defect. In addition, Chrysler dealers encouraged owners of potentially unsafe vehicles to use the parking brake when the car is in the garage or in the parking lot until the cars will be checked by the specialists.

Chrysler 200 sedan last generation was introduced last year. The car received a European appearance and the CUSW platform from the Fiat Italian Company. This architecture is also used in the Alfa Romeo Giulietta and the Jeep Cherokee. In the US, the car is equipped with 2.4-liter or 3.6-liter power unit and 9-speed automatic.
